If you have spent anytime on the web, than you have seen these services being advertised. You are bombarded on almost every page with advertisements for free background checks.
If you have ever tried to use these services than you are as disappointed as most are at there effectiveness. The information you normally receive is the same information you would have obtained from a telephone book. After spending a lot of time searching for a real free background check; I have come to a conclusion. There is no such thing as a free background check on the web. What I have determined is that if you want a free background check, than you are going to have to conduct it yourself. I have found that you can conduct your own investigations for free and it just takes a little of your time and elbow grease.
I am going to give you some tips and strategies for conducting your own free background check. These techniques are by no means set in stone. Experiment a bit. Think outside the box and develop your own means of gaining background information.
* Social Sites - Facebook, Myspace and sites like these are all the rage in today's Internet. Most people that have a computer and Internet access, have a profile on one or more of these sites. Use the search functions these sites provide to gain information on your subject.
* White Pages.Com - This site is great for looking up current phone numbers and addresses. This information is gathered from current phone books and should be recent. You can also conduct a reverse telephone search with this site.
* County/State Records - Most counties/states now offer extensive records sites. These services are usually free and contain everything from a subjects criminal and driving history to divorce and marriage records. Google or call your local government to determine if they have such a service to offer you.
* Google - Don't forget the most simple technique of all. Conduct a Google search on your subject. When conducting this search be sure to try several different variations for your search string. You will be surprised at the amount of information that is readily available by doing a simple Google search.
